Ocean Course 9th Island Hole

The 82nd Annual Championship will be held at the historic Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, a northeast Florida landmark since opening in 1928.  Located in Ponte Vedra Beach, 20 miles southeast of Jacksonville, this AAA Five-Diamond rated resort combines award winning amenities with a tradition of gracious hospitality, all in an oceanfront setting.

Senior and Grand Seniors will play flights of eight.  Championship flights will be determined by handicap and will compete at scratch. All other entrants will be flighted by handicap and will play with the full difference.

The Ladies Match Play Championship will also play flights of eight determined by handicap with the championship flight at scratch. Other participants are flighted by handicaps and play with the full difference.  

Ocean Course 16th Hole

The Ponte Vedra Golf Club continues to earn honors and accolades.  Opened in 1928, the original architect of the Ocean Course was Herbert Bertram Strong.  It was redesigned in 1947 by Robert Trent Jones and again in 1998 by Bobby Weed.  Golf Digest has ranked Ponte Vedra among the top resorts in the nation and calls the Ocean Course "... one of the nations classics."  It has served as the site for U.S. Open qualifying five times.  

The 1961 Lagoon Course was also designed by Jones and renovated by Weed in 2007.  Ponte Vedra's Director of Golf Jim Howard describes the Lagoon Course as "a great course for match play with its collection of long par-3 and short par 4 holes".

Tournament rounds for men are on the Ocean Course Thursday and Saturday, and on the Lagoon Course Friday.  Ladies play the Lagoon Course Thursday and Saturday and the Ocean Course Friday. 

Palm trees, sand dunes, and the surf serve as a backdrop for accommodations, a full-service spa, beach club, and variety of resort sports and dining options.

In 2012 the Annual Championship begins with an optional arrival day practice round on Wednesday November 7.  The Annual Awards Banquet is Saturday and departure is Sunday November 11.   The announcement and entry information will be distributed to the membership in September. Members are encouraged to reserve early for preferred Ponte Vedra Inn accommodations.
